I really enjoy your black and white photos. The contrast makes really striking images. The fence is an interesting shot. What are the big spikes on the pipe along the wall?
Dwight
The reply button was missing for a while. In case you missed my reply, here it is again: Thank you Dwight. I suppose the spikes are meant to prevent people from climbing over the gate, wich the pipe is, on the pier. The gate was passable though. It is possible they close the pier when there is a storm going on. Occasionaly a dare devil (or thick head) is swept off the pier when the waves are to strong.
Thank you Hedy! I find landscape is becoming realy interesting when there is a human element in it. When I was in Greece once they had this temple om a hill top being restored, or rather being preserved from air polution, in a large tent, wrapped up like the way Christo does. The landscape of surrounding mountains fading away into blue and purple against the azure sky was stunning. But the strange white tent in the vast emptynes made it truly wonderful. Greetings from my vacation adress in Belgium! Peter 🙂
Weer toes. Net vandaag. Ik was in België (Ardennen, Brussel, Antwerpen en de kust) en nu weer in Grunn. Fotootjes op de computer zetten en eens rustig kijken wat ik er van gebrouwen heb. Hou ist mit joe?
Hi Peter, You see so well in black and white. Your compositions are terrific– the smoke rising framed in the fence, the smiley face framed in the spikes, the textures and lines. All a pleasure to study. Great series.
Thank you! I am not sure I saw the movie with Richard Burton but I very well remember Alec Guiness as Smiley 🙂 However I do like contrasty black and white photographs, and I do render them that way occasionally, I mostly try to find a bit more subdued look in my pictures. It pleases me you like them.
Thank you Jacqueline! I like black and white pictures and photos in colour as well. It depends on the subject I gueess and the mood I want to express. Or the mood I’m in 🙂
