Mooie serie… toevallgerwijs (toeval bestaat niet) kreeg ik de afgelopen dagen ook Brrusselse foto’s want vrienden brachten daar een paar dagen door… Heel anders dan jouw foto’s 😉
Wat mij hier bij jou opvalt is het bizarre gegeven dat afval wel voor een kleurrijk straatbeeld zorgt.
Dank je wel! Op het eerste gezicht kan Brussel een wat grauwe stad lijken. Maar er is best veel kleur. Het is ook op een betrekkelijk klein oppervlak een heel afwisselende stad. Ik zal binnenkort nog wat fotootjes plaatsen, van Brussel en nog zowat Belgisch.
The main square is indeed fantastic. The – rather tiny – historic inner city is decidedly Flemish. Around it many architectural influences and styles are abundant. The city has restyled itself quite radically over time and not always in the prittiest manners. Besides rickety neighbourhoods one can find the glass en steel ‘European’ area where the EU is settled. There are parks and palaces and from the upper city ithere is a grand view over the lower part with the Atomium in the distance. It may not be the most picturesque city in the world, but it is undoubtly interesting and a visit is certainly recommended. (And no, I’m not paid by the Brussels tourist board 🙂 )
Thanks a lot Hedy! Buildingwise Brussels is kind of a mixed bag. The old Flemish fronts are stunning indeed. But I like a bit of scruffyness as well and I’m not afraid of glass and steel. In Brussels that is all next to each other, so it’s an interesting city, and not only because of that. I’m back home after my vacation in Belgium and I will post some more pictures of that wonderful southern neighbour country of ours in the next weeks. Have a good weekend! 🙂 Peter.
Dat vond ik nou ook. Als je dan toch vuilniszakken moet hebben, maak ze dan vrolijk rose. 🙂 Ik zag trouwens laatst ook rose hooibalen, je weet wel, van die in plastic ingepakte rollen. Meestal een vaal soort groen. Maar toen even niet.
