Thank you Hanna! The trip was indeed very interesting. More then I expected. I learned a lot and reading books on the China from a few years ago it becomes more and more astonishing.
Thank you Deborah! The wedding picture, yes, I found it endearing. They looked so happy and also a bit sheepish 🙂 I saw another couple too, also in red. It’s a sweet tradition. And about the uncrowded shot – it was taken from the bus in a stretch of small businesses and settlements at the very edge of the city Datong. Those vague border area’s between the city and the countryside. Although the countryside is speckled with an abundacy of small villages, it’s strangely sedate there.
Klinkt heel erg mooi Peter.
Indeed, red and grey! Red is the colour of prosperity in China and grey is… well, mostly brick and concrete 🙂 I got aware of the colour similarity in quite a large amount of pictures after I made the selection. I think it’s kind of cool 🙂
Thanks a lot Dwight! The window in the stone wall is in a so called ‘family temple’, a rather large complex of buildings, ponds and gardens. It was lovely there. They even had water the makes one immortal! I put some on my face and believe it or not, all my wrinkles dissapeared. 🙂 The couple on the steps were about to get married. They looked so happy and shy. It always touches me.
Fantastic set, Peter. Your use of color and light is stunning along with your creative depth of field. The couple in red on the staircase, the red lanterns in the night alley, and shot “5-2” are standouts. All really well done.
Thank you Jane! Even on dull and rainy days and in grey enviroments there always is a touch of colour and in China it often is red. It’s fun noticing it and point your camera towards it. 🙂
Lovely photography! Amazing to see a Harley Davidson shirt there. 👍🏻😎

The red of prosperity. Was that a wedding on the Great wall?
LikeGeliked door 1 persoon
This was in Xi’an, on the city wall. And yes, the red of prosperity. I hope their marriage will prosper as much as they looked marvellous and happy.

Let us hope so. All best wishes to the unknown couple.

Prachtige serie.
