En een selfie;)
Wat een mooie reclame voor Groningen. Het zwart wit doet het voor je foto’s die verlaten parkeerplaats langs het water vind ik een heel fijne foto wat een sfeer! Maar die steiger ook en zeker die hand in de sneeuw.
Dank je wel Liesbeth! Groningen kan wel wat positieve aandacht gebruiken. Die parkeerplaats ia aan de zuidkant van het Paterswoldse meer, een zeer populaire recreatieplas in de buurt. ’s Zomers staan die parkeerplaatsen vol, maar nu nog niet. Dat vind die jongen op de steiger niet erg. Eerst de sneeuw maar eens weg, denkt-ie. 🙂
Dank je wel Ko! Het spoorbankje staat tussen Grunn en Haren. Er is daar een nieuw wijkje gebouwd en daarbij een pad waar ik regelmatig loop. Bankje is ook nieuw. Ik zal er eens op gaan zitten. Je bent niet de enige die Groningen soms mist. 🙂
Een andere kijk op Groningen. Origineel, je handtekening ook, 🙂
De koeien zijn bijna surrealistisch, een goed begin. De rest mag er ook zijn, die unheimische vierde foto en de hoge muur die doet denken aan de serie Arcadia.
Alles is het bekijken waard tot het straatje aan toe.
Gewoon een straatje, je moet het maar net zien.
Dank je wel Bertie! Die koeien zijn nogal bijzonder, een oud roodbont Gronings ras. Ze zijn wat kleiner dan de bekende zwartbonte Frisian-Holsteiners die we normaal in de weiden zien. Ze loeien ook met een accent. 🙂 Onder een zware lucht wordt alles een beetje griezelig. En die auto daar links in de hoek…. Bij die muur dacht ik: wat moet ik daar nou mee, maar ik vind het op de een of andere manier een gave foto. Arcadia ken ik geloof ik niet. Ik ga googelen.
Interesting observations, Peter! The image of the cows is mesmerizing with shadows and shapes. The man with the long legs and the briefcase in the crosswalk is quickly gone 🙂
The man at the lock could not have acted more nonchalantly without falling into the water, and what luck there was still snow in the street, so we could see who had passed.

Lol, the man at the lock actually did fall into the water a second after I took the picture! (Well, to be honest, he didn’t. But I would have loved him to do so. Nah, not really, a lock is rather deep and steep, it would have spoiled a nice sunny afternoon. 🙂 ) I wish you an equally fabulous rest of the weekend Hanna!
Wie met open ogen rond wandelt ziet heel veel dingen. Kiezen tussen je foto’s is wel heel moeilijk, maar dat plekje langs de waterkant en de paarden trokken mijn aandacht extra in hun richting.
Dank je wel Marylou! Je hebt helemaal gelijk. Ogen open en een camera bij de hand en je komt altijd wel met iets thuis. Langs dat water loop ik vaak. Een echt natuurgebied is het niet, meer een recreatieterrein, maar in het poldertje ernaast vind je altijd vogels en vee, en nu zijn ook de ooievaars terug. Die paarden dansten zo mooi om elkaar heen. Het wachten is dan op de juiste gezamenlijke houdingen. 🙂
Je foto’s stralen weer een heel sobere en speciale sfeer uit.
De foto met zicht op de toren van Groningen en met ‘schilderij’ vooraan vind ik schitterend.
Ook de lucht bij het meisje op de fiets is indrukwekkend. Net als de eenzame man bij het water.
En je hand-druk uit een ver vervlogen wintertijd.

Dank je wel Omabaard! Die afbeelding van de Turfstraat is op een woonboot geplakt die in de Turfsingel (onderdeel van de Diepenring, de Groningse grachtengordel), ligt. Goed gevonden van die eigenaar! Er is in een kleine eeuw weinig veranderd daar. Luchten kun je in zwart-wit zo mooi dreigend maken. 🙂 En die sneeuw, ik heb het even nagekeken, dateert van 11 maart en is dus vrij recent.Toen de winter in het zuiden lang voorbij was kregen wij nog een staartje.
Je schrijft hier over Groningen op een niet alledaagse manier. Het is weinigen gegeven om zoveel uit te drukken en gevoel te geven in foto’s. Jij kan praten veel zeggen met je foto’s. De koeien grepen me al meteen aan. En die handjes in de sneeuw… Allemaal mooi en veelzeggend
Dank je wel Bea! Groningen en omgeving blijft me inspireren. Ik zou het leuk vinden als de foto’s over laten we zeggen 10 of 20 jaar nog de moeite van aanzien waard zijn en kunnen dienen als een soort onnadrukkelijk tijdsbeeld. Die koeien en de handjes zijn lief vind ik.

Dank je wel Elsje! Die koeien, je zou er zo tussen gaan liggen. 🙂 De foto van de man op de markt is gemaakt tijdens de jaarlijkse bloemetjesmarkt in Stad. Op Goede Vrijdag. Komt allen! Gezellig! Maar of die man het daarmee eens is… Misschien houdt hij niet zo van bloemen. 🙂
Het is vanaf de eerste foto weer een prachtige serie geworden, Peter. Veelal sterke zwart/wit foto’s in wisselende omstandigheden, ieder met hun eigen verhaal. Je laatste foto is een prachtige afsluiter.
Dank je wel Jan! Het is leuk om in de eigen omgeving rond te dwalen en je camera paraat te hebben, zoals jij dat ook doet. De laatste foto is bij het bezoekerscentrum van de Onlanden. Ik heb het nog als werkende boerderij gekend, nu hebben ze nog wel stallen met graaskoeien voor in de natuur. Die mogen straks weer naar buiten. Kalveren zijn altijd lief. En een selfie kon ik niet weerstaan. 🙂

Thank you Deborah! The lock guy was ultra cool. He was actually a bystander but acted like he ruled the show. 🙂 The picture of the scene with the church tower depicted the little street in de background in 1935. So remarkable little has changed in almost a century! Rather unique for my city.
There’s something in the 1st photo that is very pleasing to the eye. The lines and shapes that the cows’ spines form. And what about those hand prints on the snow? Was someone drunk? Walking on their hands? Searching for missing glasses? Did you stage the photo? So many possible scenes running through my head, I might not sleep tonight! 😃
Thank you Snow! Did I stage the photo? Well, yes, I did ask the cows to lie in a kind of circle and pretend not noticing me. 🙂 They didn’t listen though, they did it their way. (I suddenly discover that Frank Sinatra must have been an reincarnated cow!) A little cropping of the picture did help too. The picture of the hands in the snow was taken in the wealthy village just south of my city. No obvious drunkards there, lots of folks wearing glasses though. And children too, who very well might have experienced snow for the first time. And what do children then do? So, although your possibilities were a lot more exiting, I hope I save you from a sleepless night, 🙂

Thanks a lot Dwight! I like the cow-shot too. The picture was taken on a hot day so they all were together in a spot of shade. The man and the building are on my cities main market square Grote Markt, meaning Big (or Great) Market. (It shows that our languages have a lot in common). The church tower in the backgroud is lovingly nicknamed Olle Grieze over here, (Old Grey. 🙂 ) The horses were playful. Spring is here!
Such a wonderful array of photos here, Peter. It looks like you see heaps of things on your walks, or at least notice them with your sharp mind. From nature to architecture to buildings, everything is of some significance and you do very well in letting your subjects speak to themselves. Looking at all of your photos, I think a symbolism here could be ‘presence’. Each photo in some way speaks of someone or an animal and their presence. Even the empty road and empty benches, they allude that there will be someone passing by at some time. Brilliant work with black and white composition. Lots going on there and lots to see where you are. Hope you are doing well 😊
Thank you Mabel! I think you made a very interesting observation that I hadn’t really thought of before. It is true that in my pictures, and therefore probably in the way I see the world, there is always a human connection, also in pictures with only buildings or animals because also in those human presence is obvious. I like those elements in my photographs, I think, because in brings things into perpective. An empy bench, a railroad, cows wating to be milked. There are worlds beyond what our eyes capture. Expectation. 🙂 I’m doing fine Mabel. I hope you too!
