In 1642 the university in my city was given an inner city Botanical garden. In the beginning of the 20the century they needed more space and the garden was relocated to the nearby village of Haren. There it still is, not for scientific purposes anymore but now a public garden with, among other features, a wonderful Chinese garden included.
